You'll have fun -- or else!

One of the most bizarre bits of parenting I've ever heard was at Disneyland, yelled at a crying child: "Stop crying! We're here to have a good time!" What's even stranger is that I've heard from many Disney fans who have heard variations on this same theme. It weirds me out that this might be common.

    Um...
I'm pretty sure you're talking about me. See, we took our girls to Disneyworld for an incredible 4 day holiday, first class all the way. (thanks to my fil for that one!)
Not having any TV or other media, homeschooled with very limited mainstream exposure, my kids were totally unprepared for "The Happiest Place on Earth"
They were scared, confused, upset. They always function better later on at night, and here we were on the East Coast (we're from Cal.) in a totally ddifferent time zone, where the only things open at the time they were ready to party on were the adult only clubs. SIGH. They just wanted to be back at that really cool "pool" that was right outside our condo. Couldn't understand why their parents made them wear shoes and actually, I kid you not, they had to be dragged in, kicking and screaming.
Yeah, that was me forcing my kids to have fun.
Bad mommy. Disney cops had their eyes on weird hippy family with the screaming kids.
